Once I crossed the barriers of applying for a job and creating a resume, I was at the next big barrier of attending the interview and job aptitude test. This is where a lot needs to be done because an interview decides whether you will get the job or not. It is never a piece of cake and it is the most decisive factor. How you present yourself in front of the interviewer is very important and can help you in impressing the prospective employer. I will give you some tips and strategies for effective job aptitude test preparation since I have been through this stage many times. Research is always the first obvious step.
If the organization which has called you for an interview has a website, then you need to go there and get as much information as possible about the company. This will give you an edge over other candidates. In case there are no websites even then you need to gather as much information as possible from articles, reviews and people. Gathering background information on employers is a crucial element for a successful interview preparation. The most common question in the job aptitude test is, "What do you know about our company?” and "Why do you want to work here?"
If you are prepared and if you have gathered the necessary information then these questions would be like walking in the park for you. The information you gather should be about the company's past performance and future plans. This will help in making your interview more interactive and would be like drawing the ace. Another important thing to remember is that practice makes one perfect. Practice as much as possible with a friend and record your responses so that you can replay the interview and see how well you did. In case there are no friends, you can look in the mirror and talk or talk to the wall. Talk loudly! This will help you in preparing well for the job aptitude test.
