Identifying Your Lifes Purpose

Some people go through their entire lives just trying to find their true purpose in life. They are always searching for an answer or believing that they are suppose to be doing something greater then what they are. Some people just live an every day existence thinking that they will never amount to anything and that they will never accomplish anything important in their lives. I have come to understand that your life's purpose is really just about who you are as a person and what you are doing in the present moment.
I have read a few books that were written about finding your life's purpose and all it really did was confuse me even more. The moment I realized what it all meant was when my mother and I were taking a trip to Florida and we were driving across the states. She had read the book, "A Purpose Driven Life" and she was also confused as to what it all meant. She did not think that she had a life's purpose because she did not look at herself as anyone of importance. She could not understand what she was put on this earth to accomplish. Her life revolved around her husband and her children. I never hesitated for one moment in giving my mother an answer to her question. She is one of the most kind and generous ladies that I have ever had the privilege to know. If someone lost a loved one, she would be there if they needed her. If someone needed a ride to the doctor, she would volunteer to drive them with no questions asked. If someone needed help with a project at church, she was there volunteering her time. For over 15 years she volunteered for the American Cancer Society and still makes afghans, hats and shawls for the patients. If a family member called her and needed something, she was there at the drop of a hat. I have even had friends that lost their homes and my mother offered to take them in. She had never even met them. How many people do you know that have that much compassion for other people?
It is very apparent to me that you do not have to have a successful career or have a lot of money in order to have a purpose in life. What really matters is the kind of person you are deep down inside, the compassion that you have for others and the willingness to help when needed. That alone is enough to fulfill anyones "Life Purpose".
