Do you live your life with passion? And how do you find the passion in your life?
For most people the challenge is to find work that will give them great fulfillment, since to start with they don't really know what they want in their life. So where do you begin to make changes?
First, you have to take responsibility - YOU are accountable for changing your life. It can be tempting to blame other people or circumstances for what has happened to you, but this is disempowering. While you can't determine other people's behaviour or influence all outcomes, you can certainly choose how you react to them.
Once you accept that you create your own world, your life really can open up. So take responsibility for your life. Decide where it is that you want to go and what you want to achieve, and then go get it. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got. If what you're doing isn't getting you what you want, then do something different. The key thing is to know what your goals are and to get clear about your future.
Let go of a perceived lack of past achievements. A lot of people look at what they have missed out on in life and what could have been. However unless you begin now to create the life you want, you will have more regrets in future years. The past is been and gone. Letting go of physical and mental clutter is part of the deeper process of letting go, moving on and living in the present rather than the past.
Get to know yourself. For example, do you know what your values are? What are your strengths and skills? How do others view you? Get feedback from some close friends and family on how they see you, and be prepared to listen to their answers. Most importantly, how do you view yourself - do you like yourself? Stop blaming yourself, and beating yourself up when things don't work out. Instead, simply analyse the situation and learn something from it. You can then grow.
Listen to your intuition and let your feelings help you find the great passion of your life - do not underestimate your "gut feeling". Become attuned to this inner voice, it can give you great guidance - remember the times when following your intuition served you well.
Spend some quality time on your own. Snuggle into your favourite chair. Now set your mind free and think about all those things that you enjoy and which make you happy. Focus on those things that make you come alive and happy.
Consider what you would do if you had all the time and money in the world. What things really make you buzz? What contribution do you want to make to the world? What do you want to be remembered for? What unique talents do you have to offer the world?
You will probably need numerous such sessions of reflection, but ideas will come and you will begin to get more clarity. Allow time and energy to fully explore such questions. Allow the little pearls of wisdom to bubble up to the surface. Write down the messages and thoughts that come and these can then help you form an action plan. You can then truly begin to create a life of passion.
Let us leave the last words on passion to Ralph Marston:-
"Though they may have been covered over by the details of everyday life, your passions are still very much with you. Get in touch with them. They'll push you toward exactly where you want to go."
