Lack of motivation is like a vacuum it can suck the life and energy right out of you! If you are reading this, it is probably something that you struggle with. It is probably something that holdsyou back in life. You need to come to the realization that having a perpetual lack of motivation is a habit that you must change in order to finally enjoy life. Remember nothing with change until
YOU make the decision to change.
An important step to weeding out your lack of motivation is to take a deeper look at why it is you don't feel motivated about a particular task. Is the size of the task too overwhelming? Is it that you are falling asleep or don't have enough energy to complete a task? There could be a number of reasons why that loss of motivation covers you over like a blanket. Your job is to think about what might be the root cause and attack the situation from the root. If you can identify the reasons why you may feel uninspired then you will more easily be able to find a solution to your problem.
To give you a head start here are some of the most common reasons why people lose motivation and some suggestions as to how to get around it.
- Lack of patterns: A loss of motivation tends to settle in when we are not consistent with our goals and objectives. Perhaps you take long breaks from a certain task, or you jump back and fourth between various projects. What you are actually doing is breaking your momentum, breaking up your patterns and that's a big "no, no." The key is to keep at your goals regularly. Develop a pattern of regularity when you approach any task. You will be amazed at how much more confidence you develop and how much more
passion you will acquire for the task if you just remain consistent and persistent.
- Not enough experience: Very often people hit a wall when it comes to dealing with a new task, a topic that they are still learning about. You may be feeling as though you don't have enough experience or know-how to complete a certain task, that's when the frustration sets in. Your mind begins to create a great deal of "what if" scenarios and before you know it you have talked yourself out of completing a particular objective. Whenever that happens just remember the strength of will-power. Take a minute to
re-focus your mind and shut out these negative thoughts that so often invade our minds. Replace these thoughts with positivity and reconnect with that inner-confidence. Use positive affirmations if necessary.
After you take this mental break you will find that you have a renewed sense of self and will be able to get back in to the game. Now there are some times when you genuinely need to learn more about a particular subject. But instead of canceling yourself out of the equation, break down the situation and identify what exactly is creating the perplexity. What are the things that you don't know? Make a list and create an action plan listing all of the possible resources that will help you learn more or gain additional skills.
- Lack of confidence: Self confidence is extremely important when it comes to staying motivated. Without self confidence you have no drive or energy, and without those things it's hard to find motivation. When you have a strong belief in yourself and in your abilities you will notice that all negative thoughts
and comments from negative people bounce right off of you. It is all connected because the more self confidence you have the more you will believe in your abilities, the more others will see your excitement and will want to help you.
Lack of motivation is not a life sentence, you don't have to put up with it. As long as you remember to be persistent and confident, you are on the right track. Once you learn how to do away with a lack of motivation you are able to focus on living life on your own terms and never having to deal with incomplete goals.
