Learning To God Tap Your Brakes In Life

Learning to God tap your brakes in life is much like learning how to drive in the snow and on ice. The best advice is not to drive at all in inclement weather. We do not always have a choice.
Life does not always give us a choice either. We all have stormy times in our lives. We all have times when life tosses us around like a wild winter storm. This is when learning the art of God tapping our brakes is not a luxury but a necessity.
If we do need to travel during inclement weather we must make sure our car is prepared and that we know how to handle road conditions. When the storm comes in life we must be prepared. Maintaining a good spiritual balance along with mental, emotional and physical balance is needed. In other words kick your life’s tires and check under your prayer hood to make sure you are ready for any storm on your horizon. Have you had a God tune-up lately?
The first advice the driving safety tips advise us to do is not go out at all during a snow or ice storm. If we do have to travel they advise us to not drive until the snow plows and sanding trucks have had a chance to do their work. Traveling in our life's storms should not be done until we have prayed and asked God to go out before us. We may be petitioning for help with decision making, safety, blessings, strength, mercy, compassion, health and the list goes on. God will be our snow plows and sanding trucks if we allow Him.
DRIVING SAFTEY ON THE ICY ROADS OF LIFE:
Decrease your speed and leave plenty of room to stop. When trouble arrives in our lives we have a tendency to spin out of control. As my mother used to say, “We do not know if we are washing or hanging out.” Take time to slow down and know that God is in charge, pray and give Him thanks in all things. Take time to slow down or even to stop to access the situation before moving forward.
Brake gently to avoiding skidding. In life as well as in your car, slamming your brakes on can be a very bad thing. Learning how to do a gentle God tap on your brake will help keep you from spinning out of control and landing in a miry mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual ditch. The worst decisions I have ever made in my life was in a life ditch.
Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks, you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind. God through prayer is your snow plough and sanding truck. Stay behind Him at all times, that is where your safety is. If you pass Him you are leading the way and you will be on some very icy roads with your protector behind you. Yes, he can come along and pick you up but why when you did not need to fall in the first place.
Turn your lights on. Turn on the light of God and make His presence known. Be a light house for His love in all areas of your life. In all things give thanks to Him. If your lights are on in the good weather of your life then turn them on bright during the storms. It is during our storms that God's light in our life shows the brightest to others.
CONSULT YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL:
Reading your vehicle owner's manual will give you tips specific to your vehicle. Knowing you vehicle will help you know how to operate it during a storm. God gave us an owner's manual. It is called the BIBLE. It is never too late to read and study it but if we have already studied it then we are better prepared for life's storms. READ NOW SO YOU CAN REAP LATER. You reap what you sow.

Knowledge is power. By knowing the Word of God you will know when to take your foot off of life's accelerator. You will know in what directions to turn your life's steering wheel to keep from sliding to the left or right. You will know when to gently pump your life's brakes or apply gentle pressure.
IF YOU GET STUCK:
Do not spin your life's wheels and start trying to walk through the storm without help. You will only get in deeper. Stop and pray. Prayer is your spiritual shovel, sand, kitty litter, and salt to get the traction you need to get back on a clear road.
