An alcoholic beverage is a drink containing ethanol, commonly known as alcohol. Alcoholic beverages are divided into three general classes: beers, wines, and spirits. It is made by fermenting different ingredients.
Fermenting is when yeast acts on the sugar in these ingredients and creates alcohol.
Some key ingredients for fermentation and the alcoholic drinks they make are:
Grapes: As we all particularly know, Grapes are used in the production of grape wine.
Brandy is a spirit made by distilling grapes to a higher proof than they achieve as wine.
Vodka: Potatoes have been used to make vodka and also grains are used to produce the high grade vodka.
Whisky and beer: The grains are also the major ingredients in beer and whisky. Beer is usually made from barley, whereas whisky is a blend of distinctive kinds of grains.
Rum: Ingredients used in Rum is sugar in a major content.
Distinctive alcoholic beverages differ in terms of their aging process like beer that undergoes a process of short fermentation, lasts for about a week or so.
On the contrary, wine, which involves a longer process of fermentation, has a long aging period, lasting many months or even years.
Alcohol is absorbed through the walls of the stomach and small intestine into the bloodstream where is it carried to the rest of the body, including the liver and the brain.
Alcohol itself has no vitamins or minerals. Therefore, the higher the alcohol contents of a drink, the lower the amount of available nutrients.
Most alcoholic beverages contain little or no fat or sodium. Protein levels are also low. A serving of beer has no fat, less than 2g of protein and trace amounts of sodium. Wine and hard liquor contain no fat, protein or sodium at all.
Alcohol should always be consumed in limit. Your body when get dependent on alcohol you become an alcoholic. People who are alcoholic cannot live without alcohol; it causes problems not only to the person who is addicted to alcohol but also to the people living with that person.
It also affects the financial condition of the alcoholic. Drinking alcohol sometimes could be fun, but only until it is in limit.
There are many effects on human mind when they consume too much level of alcohol.
They might become violent and aggressive, sometimes very depressed, sometimes sleepy and sometimes reckless.
Too much alcohol consumption can affect human body as well:
It could damage the liver
Cause heart problems
Breast cancer
Brain damage
Erectile dysfunction in men
Cancer in the digestive system
Sleep disorder etc
Alcohol consumption can be sometimes dangerous for a woman who is pregnant. Alcohol can affect the growth and brain development of an unborn baby.
People who drink too much alcohol in a day won't worry for the consequences however they might do something unusual when they get high with the effect of alcohol.
The next day they would have to go through a hangover. The hangover includes tiredness, headache, dizziness, being lethargic, muscle aches, too much thirst, and red eyes.
The best way to overcome hangover is have a small amount of drink something like one peg of the drink, or one glass of beer. It will make you normal or consume lots and lots of water to get the hangover out.
